This weekend, my husband and I will be running Starship Valkyrie at Strategicon at the LAX Hilton! We do this every con, in addition to running the LARP Department, and it’s a great, rowdy time—usually somewhere between eighteen and twenty-seven players. I’ve been hard at work updating the set for Starship Valkyrie Basic, including doing an overhaul on the consoles, rewriting the pregen backgrounds to have more lore points and more for people to roleplay with, separating the Ops boxes for Basic and Advanced (for my own sanity), and making a Valkyrie info board for my department HQ. Rob got crafty and made star-shaped QR codes, and I love them. 😊
If you’re reading this after subscribing at Strategicon—welcome! I’m so glad you’re here! I hope you’ve had a chance to read “Party Crashers,” and if you’re looking for more Valkyrie fiction… ask and ye shall receive!
Things are heating up over at the Moonlight and Margaritas anthology, which is coming on June 30th with my story, “Crimson Wake,” included among thirteen fantastic titles. I think we might be the only sci-fi romance in there, but they all look like a lot of fun, judging by the blurbs and promotional stuff I’ve seen. The Cinco de Mayo readers’ contest is over, and the winners have been announced, but the fun’s not over! I’d love to give one of my own newsletter subscribers a chance to get their hands on the Star Navy Grub Guide sampler epub or the “All Hands” epub. If you want either, leave a comment on a blog post here! Tell me what you’d like and why, or talk to me about “Party Crashers.” Feel free to ask some questions, or let me know what you’d like to see on the site. I’d like to put up some sample chapters for What Remains before going to Strategicon, so keep an eye out for those.
If you’d like to know more about Starship Valkyrie, please visit the website at starshipvalkyrie.com, our sister site (you’ll see the resemblance, since I designed them both). There, you can access the wiki, read about the game and rulesets, join the newsletter, and join our public Discord server. The Discord is a great place to chat with me; I even have a channel for Starship Valkyrie fiction stuff, and I’m generally very active. Come join us! The Valkyrie fam in SoCal is very fun and kind.
United and Strong!
